Technical Requirements

Our system works well with Polycom and Tandberg systems. There must be a compatible facility at the other end of the video conference.

Campus Location

Killam B271 (access is through Killam B269)

Map

Room Capacity

3-4 people comfortable, 6-8 people is tight, 12 people maximum.

Room Layout

Conference table facing 2 side-by-side 46" flat screen monitors. The left monitor is for a computer presentation and the right monitor is for the video session. The camera is located over the right monitor.

How to Dress

To ensure that you can be seen clearly by those at the other end of the conference, we recommend that you wear darker colours. As well, busy clothing patterns or stripes can cause image shimmer and a general degradation of the overall broadcast picture. For example, a plain tie is better than one with a pattern.

Reservations

For those using Meeting Maker, create a meeting and add Killam B271 Video Conference as the location. We recommend you make a separate booking titled Setup for the 1/2 hour before your session. For those without Meeting Maker, contact ILO at ilo@dal.ca or by phone at (902) 494-3456.

Pre-Event Testing

We recommend a 1/2 hour test session 3 days prior to the event to ensure system compatibility. Contact the ILO at ilo@dal.ca or phone at (902) 494-3456 to set up an appointment.

Fees

There is no charge for a university session.. For outside groups, the hourly fee is $150 charged in 1/2 hour increments for setup, testing and the session.
