Educational Technologies at Dalhousie

There are a number of tools available through ILO to enhance and support the development of your course. Most of the tools integrate seamlessly with the OWL system. Check out the innovative solutions listed here.

Wimba Classroom

Wimba Classroom is an easy to learn, real-time, online learning space. It enables you to lecture as if in a real room and reach people who are unable to join you on campus. You can set up your Live Classroom directly from your Blackboard course space.

Camtasia Relay

$Description: C:\Users\Sheila\Desktop\Camtasia relay.jpg$ Camtasia Relay allows you to capture and publish your lecture or presentation in the classroom, in the conference room, at your desk, or at home - allowing any lecture or presentation to be viewed by your audience on multiple playback devices including portable media devices such as the Apple iPod.

Learning Objects - Campus Pack

$Description: C:\Users\Sheila\Desktop\Learning Objects.jpg$ Campus Pack is a social learning platform that facilitates learning, sharing and collaborating with blogs, podcasts, wikis, and journals.

Respondus

$Description: C:\Users\Sheila\Desktop\images Respondus.jpg$ Respondus is a tool for creating and managing exams that can be published directly to Blackboard or printed to paper. The Respondus Lock Down Browser is a custom browser that locks down the testing environment within Blackboard. Students are locked into the assessment and are unable to print, copy, go to another URL, or access other applications.

StudyMate

Instructors and students enter facts or sample questions online that are transformed into a variety of learning activities for practice and study.

Turnitin

$Description: C:\Users\Sheila\Desktop\turnitin.bmp$ Turnitin is recognized worldwide as the standard in online plagiarism prevention. It enables instructors and students to quickly and effectively check content for originality.

Wimba Voice Tools

$Description: C:\Users\Sheila\Desktop\WVT_logo.gif$ Wimba Voice Tools facilitate and promote vocal instruction, collaboration, coaching and assessment in online courses. With voice tools you can conduct office hours and increase interaction and student engagement levels. The voice tools are fully integrated with Blackboard.

Wimba Create

$Description: C:\Users\Sheila\Desktop\wimba.gif$ Wimba Create, (formerly CourseGenie), can take course material in Microsoft Word format and transform it into a dynamic online course. From one Word document you can generate a set of web pages with navigation and interactive features that integrate seamlessly into Blackboard.

Impatica

$Description: C:\Users\Sheila\Desktop\imp4ppt_logo.gif$ Impatica for PowerPoint allows you to play presentations over the internet or from within an e-mail message without the need for the end user to have PowerPoint on their system.
